Ingredients
Ingredients for Orange Drizzle Loaf
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon salt
½ cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 tablespoon grated orange zest
½ cup freshly squeezed orange juice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Orange Drizzle
½ cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons freshly squeezed orange juice
Preparation
Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
Mix dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
Cream butter and sugar: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
Add eggs: Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract and orange zest.
Combine ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk. Begin and end with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
Pour batter: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cool: Once baked, remove from the oven and let the loaf cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Prepare the drizzle: In a small bowl, mix the powdered sugar with enough orange juice to achieve a smooth, pourable consistency.
Drizzle: Once the loaf is completely cool, drizzle the orange glaze over the top. Allow the drizzle to set before slicing.
